Brazilian striker Robinho agreed to waive the part of the fee he was entitled to following his move from Campeonato Brasileiro club Santos to Spanish Real Madrid. The player, who ownes 40% of his own transfer rights sacrificed his part in order to facilitate the deal. The transfer was valued at US$50m but the Primera Liga club only paid US$30m to Santos and Robinho agreed to pass over the remaining US$20m. According to the player, the loss will be recovered through the firm that manages the image rights of Real Madrid players. "We are negotiating with Telefónica, Siemens, Audi and a food firm whose name I cannot mention,“ Robinho’s agent Wagner Ribeiro explained. Nike is also reported to be ready to renew their contract with the player for another ten years. Ribeiro now intends to open a firm in Spain exclusively dedicated to commercializing the image of his footballer and believes he will need to spend ten days a month in Madrid taking care of business.
