DC United considers stadium plans

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
The Major League Soccer club discussed plans for a football (soccer) specific stadium. President and chief executive of the club, Kevin Payne said: “We've been working very, very hard with the D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission and the city administration to develop plans. Those two entities are working on a proposal for us, a site and a way to move forward. We're absolutely convinced that working together, we will find an opportunity that will be fantastic for our organization, for the sport in general and for our city, and we really look forward to that day." Payne aims to create a public-private partnership which would see the city providing land for the complex including a 25,000 seat stadium surrounded by youth soccer fields, similar to the Home Depot Center, home to the L.A. Galaxy.
