UEFA has concluded a deal with broadcaster Canal for the rights to broadcast 112 Champions League matches per season between 2006 and 2009 on its pay-TV channels platform. The deal also includes exclusive rights to all highlights and magazine packages from the tournament. Free-to-air rights were awarded previously by UEFA to TF1. The Champions League content will be a further boost for Canal which has been winning new subscribers at record levels over the past six months, after winning the rights to Ligue 1 in December 2004. Canal paid €600m per season for the league rights in a deal from 2005 to 2008.
