Valerenga midfielder Magne Hoset, dropped his agent Einar Baardsen because he was demanding 10% of the player’s salary, twice as much as the majority of representatives’ charge. Baardsen denied the claim, saying: “it is a complete lie. I never take money from my players. I get my money from the clubs.
Hoset ended his co-operation with Baardsen soon after he joined FC Copenhagen last year and negotiated his deal to join the club by himself. “I don’t need an agent at the moment,” he said. “If I perform with FCK I can sell myself.” A representative for the Norwegian player’s union, Silje Johannessen, said: “I don’t know what kind of deal Hoset and Baardsen had but I have to say that 10% sounds a lot. It’s normally 5%.”
Baardsen has landed himself in further trouble by not paying Premier League club Viking Stavanger for the VIP box he used last season. The agent is accused of owing Viking €300,000. “It should have been paid by now,” said Viking marketing director Hans-Oyvind Sagen. Also club Molde claims that Baardsen owes them money - €22,500 for use of one of the club’s VIP boxes last season.
