Federation steps in to broadcasting row

The Football Federation (TFF) is working to defuse an argument over the distribution of broadcasting revenues after 14 clubs threatened to boycott the Superleague unless their share was increased.

The warning was issued by the so-called Anatolian clubs, the 14 teams in the First Division other than the three major Istanbul clubs Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce, and Black Sea side Trabzonspor.

The latter four, which have the largest fan bases, currently receive half the broadcasting revenues and the other 14 get the rest. "We are working on new proposals which will be linked to the performance and success of clubs," the Federation's deputy chairman Sekip Mosturoglu told media. "We are confident that we will solve this problem by the end of June or mid-July at the latest." He said the federation would meet with the 14 Anatolian clubs next week and hold a meeting with all 18 clubs in the league to clarify the issue.
