Premier League clubs should improve matchday incomes

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
According to the report published by Deloitte & Touche, the English Premier League clubs spent £ 130m over a year ended June 2003 on stadia and facilities. Worth while to mention that 60% of the investments (£ 80m) were spent by Arsenal on its Ashburton Grove stadium, due to open on the start of the 2006/07 season. The clubs stadiums investments over the years are seems to be fruitful whereas the average attendance was over 35,000 in 02/03 season, the highest figure over 50 years, and 3% increase on the previous season (01/02). But despite increasing ‘match day’ revenue generated by higher attendances (£ 363m), the report reasoned that the clubs still have the potential to levy further incomes by adopting a more scientific approach to pricing season tickets and cooperate facilities.
