Chinese OOC dismiss Barcelona's sponsorship deal

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
The Olympic Organizing Committee (OOC) have claimed that they "know nothing" about the reported shirt sponsorship deal between the Chinese government and the Primera Liga club. President Joan Laporta returned from China having failed to secure the €19m deal. Laporta refused to elaborate on the reasons behind the breakdown in negotiations, however club directors Marc Ingla and Ferran Soriano, have remained in the Far East. The club nevertheless officially maintains that it is making good progress in talks to reaching an agreement.  "We have been working intensively in Beijing in recent days and we have made progress in the negotiations with a leading organization in China," vice president and head of marketing and media Marc Ingla told the club's website. "The talks have been positive and will continue over the next few weeks. We hope to be able to give more details as the process continues and reaches its conclusion."
