Clubs are still long way from profitability

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
Premier Liga clubs are generating greater revenue from rising attendances and gate receipts but are still are generally a long way from profitability. The most successful clubs are Zenit St Petersburg, UEFA Cup quarter-finalists CSKA Moscow and Krylya Sovetov Samara. Sales of match tickets and merchandise accounted for up to 10 per cent of the aforementioned clubs’ budgets, which is greater than the earnings of any other Liga club. The average attendance in the Liga last season was about 12,000, but Krylya Sovetov and Zenit were led the way with crowds of 30,000 and 20,000 respectively. Tickets vary from £2.50 to £10.00 while admission to the VIP box for one match costs £56. Russian champions Lokomotiv set prices for Russian Premier Liga matches for between £1.60 - £16 while a VIP seat would cost £30-£140.
