Polish rather watch international football

More than 6,500 voters snubbed the chance to see their most high profile player Jerzy Dudek in action in goal for Liverpool against Bayer Leverkusen. They voted instead to watch the likes of Frenchman Zinedine Zidane and Brazilian Ronaldo in the Real Madrid game away to Juventus on the same nigh. "Polish fans clearly take into account above all the attractiveness of the match and not whether Poles are playing or not," a spokesman for Telewizja Polska told media. TVP 2 broadcasted the Juventus v Real Madrid match after only 1,700 people voted for Bayer Leverkusen v Liverpool, despite it featuring two of Poland's top players, Dudek and Leverkusen midfielder Jacek Krzynowek.
