Infront Sports & Media has reached agreements with Top Channel in Albania, RTR State TV & Radio Broadcasting Company in Russia, and Lithuanian Radio and Television (LRT), for the television broadcast rights for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. Top Channel, the leading commercial broadcaster in Albania, has acquired a package of live and delayed rights for all 64 matches of the event via terrestrial, satellite and cable exclusively across the territory. Top were successful in acquiring the rights following a competitive bid against other Albanian broadcasters, including the public broadcaster. RTR have acquired both the television and the radio broadcast rights for all matches of the tournament in the Russian language. RTR is the region's state broadcaster and the agreement will ensure that this substantial territory will receive extensive free to air television and radio coverage of the 2006 event. RTR was a broadcast partner at the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan and is continuing its relationship with the FIFA World Cup. It will take the majority of matches live on its main channel, reaching the maximum audience. Inspired by the popularity of the 2002 FIFA World Cup broadcasts, RTR has since launched its own successful dedicated sports channel "RTR Sports". The existence of this additional channel will ensure that there is another platform available to further increase the coverage of the FIFA World Cup in Russia. The sports channel is expected to be used extensively, offering Russian viewers further choices of when and how to view the event. Lithuanian LRT has agreed a substantial package of television and radio broadcast rights, which includes all 64 matches. The agreement also includes television and radio broadcast rights for the annual FIFA Galas which take place at the end of each calendar year, plus the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup, which will take place in Germany from 15th - 29th June 2005. The agreement will provide football fans in Lithuania with extensive, free-to-air television coverage of the world's most popular sports event. The sale of 2006 FIFA World Cup broadcasting rights is now substantially complete. As of January 2005, completed sales levels were at 85% in Europe, 100% in South and Central America and 90% in the Pacific region.
