Scottish Livingston FC has until the end of June to resolve their debts or they could be faced into administration. The Scottish First Division club could be held responsible for a GBP 280,000 deficit in connection with Almondvale Stadium, leaving West Lothian Council no choice but to threaten legal proceedings.

If Livingston fails to secure the necessary funds, control of the club would be handed over to the Livi for Life Trust, as noted by BBC.

However, owner Angelo Massone insists that Livingston is not headed for administration, noting that he is currently speaking with the council about purchasing the grounds.

The hefty debt is broken down into GBP 130,000 for past-due rent payments and GBP 150,000 for their latest rental agreement, which comes due this month.

According to a senior source, June 30 is the ‘absolute deadline’ for Livingston. The club has already been placed under scrutiny for failing to pay player wages on time, sparking the Scottish Football League to consider demoting the club.

Should Livingston manage to resolve the outstanding rent charges, the Council has indicated that the remaining rent amount would be dropped to GBP 50,000.

Current club owners could also be granted an opportunity to buy Almondvale, with the guarantee that the stadium house only professional football. Revenue earned from the sale would be split with Livingston if a new venue was constructed prior to the transaction taking place.

The source further advised BBC that the club doesn’t appear to be ‘financially credible’.
