FIFA President Sepp Blatter admits that he believes English Premier League owners are in it for the money, criticising the top tier club leaders at a private meeting with Richard Scudamore earlier this week. During the meeting, Blatter and Scudamore allegedly butted heads regarding the intentions of top flight owners, among other issues.

Despite the fact that the meeting had been set up to address a growing gap between FIFA and the Premier League, Blatter claims that Scudamore is “working to make a lot of money”, while the FIFA president is working to make improvements to the sport through a stir of hope and emotions, as reported by The Telegraph.

The topic shifted to Blatter’s proposed 6+5 rule, whereby Scudamore confirmed the Premier League’s resistance. The rule, which would bring no more than five foreign players to a domestic game’s starting lineup, has not been well-received by the top clubs.

Although Scudamore declined to respond, Football Association chairman Lord Triesman stepped forward to support his position, noting that the Premier League chief executive is simply doing his job.
