Spanish FC Barcelona reveals that the club has profited EUR 15.9 million during the first half of the season. This is up 28.2 per cent compared to last season.

The club spent EUR 164.1 million plus EUR 6 million in financial expenses out of their total income of GBP 186 million. The 12.4 per cent increase in overall income was due to participating in the Champions League and a contract with Nike.

Reconstructing the team caused a 10 per cent increase in expenses for the club. Revenue from the stadium declined by 3.2 per cent, mainly due to reduced match attendance.

The second half of the season could reduce the overall profits for the club. Barcelona owes EUR 30 million for a settlement with Soegcable, plus EUR 29.1 for a lawsuit with TV3 and AVS. New sponsorship deals are also expected to affect the numbers.
