In a recent speech made to members of the Football Association of Albania (FSHF), Michel Platini confirmed UEFA’s intention to help smaller associations move forward. The UEFA president went on to praise Albanian football for its own advancements, including the national team’s latest performance.

Platini pointed out the link between democracy and the UEFA’s ability to function, recognizing that each of the 53 member associations stand for a democracy in its own right.

He went on to mention the importance of the solidarity and UEFA HatTrick funds, calling them a “crucial” component of clubs with smaller-scale revenues. Platini indicated that UEFA has provided significant contributions to support smaller associations such as Albania.

Platini further advised that a programme is in the process of being implemented by UEFA to create stronger ties among European associations. He also explained that while UEFA respects the law itself, its members do not support the interference of public authorities.

Members of the Albanian football family also spoke at the general assembly, including Albanian Olympic Committee President Hysen Domi and FSHF President Armand Duka.
