Eurosport awarded Bundesliga rights

The live television rights for the Bundesliga, Germany's top football league, have been awarded to the Eurosport, the Pan-European sports multimedia broadcaster. The deal covers 2009-2012.

Eurosport get exclusive rights of both the Bundesliga and the 2.Bundesliga for 22 countries in Northern and Eastern Europe including Scandinavia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Rumania, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia and the Baltic states.

There will be a weekly highlights programme on Eurosport2, and there will be extensive coverage of up to four live matches per week. The five Nordic countries will also receive a weekly preview programme, which is nearly an hour long, and five live matches per season. Live and VOD matches will also be available via pay-per-view.

Eurosport broadcasts to 59 countries in 20 languages, reaching 115 million homes.
