Sevilla will not have its matches broadcast

Feeling slighted after its UEFA championship, Sevilla will not allow TV broadcasts of Spanish League or Copa del Rey matches this season.

Sevilla made the decision because it has received a reduced offer from one of the partners which hold the rights to show games in the two competitions.

The club said the treatment it has received from both companies "doesn't correspond with the relevance of Sevilla in national and international soccer, nor with the value of televised soccer both nationally and internationally."

It said the company involved was either Mediapro and Sogecable but didn't say which.

The ban encompasses all types of broadcast, such as live matches, highlights or pay-per-view and will also include the team's away matches.

Sevilla will play in the competition again in the UEFA Cup this season, although those games will be broadcast.

Sevilla's opening match of the league season against newly promoted Levante will be the first not to be aired.
