Sky Sports and the Football League announced the first live televised matches for the 2006-07 Coca-Cola League One season, the first season of a new three-year deal.

Under the deal, Sky Sports will broadcast ten live matches a season from across the three divisions, for a total of 70 live games. All will be available in Sky HD format for the first time.

In consultation with the Football League and the clubs, Sky Sports have scheduled 26 live matches featuring 36 different clubs — half of the teams in the League — over the first three months of the season. Matches from all three divisions will be shown in the opening set of televised fixtures.

The opening weekend features three live matches, starting with Luton Town vs Leicester City on Saturday 5 August. The next day brings a live double-header with Coventry City facing Sunderland, and Derby County meeting Southampton.

Other live fixtures include: Coventry City vs Leicester City, Stoke City vs Birmingham City and Sunderland vs West Bromwich Albion.

"The competition for automatic promotion and play-off places in all 3 leagues provides some marvellous competition and entertainment throughout the season," said Vic Wakeling, Sky Sports' Managing Director. "We shall all be looking at this opening tranche of fixtures and making our own judgements on the likely contenders."

This season Sky Sports also will show up to 14 live matches a week from the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, 88 live matches from the Barclays Premiership and live ties from the FA Cup and Tennent's Scottish Cup and live internationals, including European Championship Qualifiers featuring England, Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
