TV deal could be voided for rules violations

The Danish Premier League may lose its EUR 1.6 million TV deal with TV2 Sport, as it is being reviewed for fair-competition violations.

The department of fair trading is currently investing the contract. It could be months before an outcome is determined, meaning the rights to broadcast the Premier League are likely to go up again for bidding.

It is believed the department will decide soon that the six-year deal, struck before Christmas last year, broke the rules for fair competition.

News agency Ritzau reports that a plan is being worked on which would see the games divided into several packages and potentially come up for bidding every three years.
