UEFA satisfied from first EURO 2008TM broadcasters' workshop
EURO 2008 - 26 June, 2007
UEFA was excited by the results of its first EURO 2008TM broadcaster workshop, staged recently in Vienna.
According to uefa.com, the plan was to let broadcast rights-holders know what will be available when the tournament starts in Austria and Switzerland next year.
For the first time, UEFA will provide the television signal and production for the tournament itself. Thirty-seven broadcast partners from across the world accepted the invitation to Vienna.
The two-day workshop started on 21 June with the UEFA Media Technologies chief executive leading proceedings.
Joachim Wildt, head of UEFA Media Technologies Partner Services, said UEFA wanted the agreements with the broadcasters to be a "true partnership".
"We don't just call all of the broadcasters that have agreed terms broadcast partners for nothing," he said. "We want a true partnership with them and we want to develop the relationship. We have told them what we can offer but we are also very flexible and want to hear what our broadcast partners need so that we can refine our approach. Our broadcast partners appreciate this and the feedback we have received is very positive. We are delighted with the outcome of this workshop."
