The penalty shootout Champions League victory by English Manchester United over Chelsea drew a peak audience of 14.6 million viewers for ITV1.
The shootout captured the most viewers of any moment this season on British television.
The programme averaged 9.9 million viewers and maintained a 43.1 percent share of the audience from 7 p.m. through 11.15 p.m. Last year's match between Italian AC Milan and English Liverpool averaged a 7.7 million haul and 35.4 percent of the audience.
This year's final capped the most watched Champions League for ITV since 2002-2003.
ITV also took in GBP 9 million in advertising revenues. The broadcaster sold 30-second spots for GBP 200,000 during the final.
