Germany's Federal Cartel Office is to announce that the German football league (DFL) must cover Bundesliga match highlights by 8 p.m. on free television.
DFL has made two proposals, one of them limits coverage to paid television. The other proposal would push back highlight programmes to 10 p.m., but offers free broadcasts of live Sunday matches. The Cartel Office is to review these proposals and make a decision. They have already noted that this coverage will not meet the needs of viewers.
A decision to reject the proposals could lead to a cancellation on the marketing rights awarded to Leo Kirch due to lower receipts in the sale of broadcasting rights.
