Nine companies have come forward in an attempt to land broadcast rights for the French football league, including Canal Plus, which currently holds the rights and vowed not to pay more for this round than it did for the last.
Canal Plus also has been involved with a legal dispute with the league, questioning the validity of its new tender. It has questioned the rights to images, length of tender and the bid minimum.
Also jumping in are France Televisions, TF1, M6, Eurosport — which is a part of TF1 — and Direct 8, as well as mobile phone operators SFR (part of Vivendi) and Orange (France Telecom), and social networking website DailyMotion.
Final offers are due 31 Jan.
