Slow sales made Norwegian television channel TV2 Zebra withdraw a package that allowed customers the choice of every Premier League fixture each weekend.
TV2 Zebra priced the offer at EUR 12.75, but was forced to scrap the offer four matches into the season.
“We have seen that the interest in a ‘season ticket’ for the whole campaign for a one-off price is much higher,” said TV2 Zebra AS administrative director Jon Grøholdt in Dagbladet. “We will still be offering individual games.”
Grøholdt felt a mistake perhaps was made with the “Rundebillett” offer. Only 10 to 15 percent of season ticket customers signed up.
“We should have considered that a lot of customers needed help with ordering the service,” Grøholdt said. “But then we would have had to charge a higher price.”
Canal Digital, a distributor of the channel, backs the decision. There still are many football options. TV2 Zebra has several different football programmes while TV2 Interaktiv and Telenor mobil both show live games.
