SPORTFIVE to conclude EURO 2008 TV rights deal in Spain
EURO 2008 - 23 November, 2007
Sports rights distributor SPORTFIVE is looking at EUR 70 million as the minimum fee it should garner from the sale of Spanish national broadcasting rights for EURO 2008.
Of UEFA's target of EUR 600 million from the sale of TV rights, the governing body has accumulated EUR 410 million from the other four major markets — France, Germany, Italy and the U.K.
Public-service broadcaster TVE and commercial channels La Sexta, owned by Mediapro, and Cuatro, headed by Sogecable, are among the contenders. Spain is the last major European market in which the EURO rights have not been distributed.
SPORTFIVE's representatives are expected in Spain in the next few days to talk with interested parties and to conclude the sale.
