The newspaper El Mundo reported La Sexta will have free-to-air rights to broadcast one match during each stage of the championship for the next three years.
A mediapro statement said: “Their offer was the best one we received from an economic point of view, and unlike other propsals, it perfectly fits in with the model of exploiting the rights that we have employed for the past ten years.”
La Sexta is controlled by Globomedia and Mexico's Televisa. It competes for Spanish football broadcast rights with Sogecable's free-to-air channel Cuatro, Telecinco and Antena 3.
