KPN, the Dutch telecommunications firm, has bid on the TV rights for the Eredivisie, the Dutch top-flight football league.

The company confirmed the bid, but did not release any details of the bid amount. The federation had asked for final bids from companies by Jan. 24. The rights, spliced into several packages, would cover five seasons, starting with 2008-2009.

Dutch media have been reporting that cable company Zesko Holding made a EUR 100 million bid.

KPN has used a deal with Tele2 to televise the Dutch league on its digital terrestrial TV network, Digitenne.
