Mediaset to sell Inter Milan satellite TV rights to Sky

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

A week after announcing that it had won the rights to sell TV rights for the Serie A club, Mediaset has announced that it is selling the digital satellite TV rights to News Corp unit Sky Italia, in a deal which runs through the 2008-09 season.

A price was not announced, although it is expected to be less than the price fetched for similar rights for fellow Serie A club Juventus. Mediaset sold Juventus’ satellite rights for EUR 157.3 million, a short time after acquiring Juventus’ rights for a total of EUR 218 million. Mediaset will retain Inter Milan’s rights for all media except UMTS third-generation phones.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who also owns Inter Milan’s rivals AC Milan, owns Mediaset.
