New players grab FA distribution rights

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
A variety of distributors will play roles in airing English national matches, as the Football Association announced which companies won the 2008-2009 distribution rights through 2012.

Kentaro and Pitch International have taken some of the European rights, while SPORTFIVE has maintained the rights to sell in France and Germany. But a joint bid from Kentaro and Pitch landed distribution rights for the Scandinavian territories and all western Europe excluding France and Germany.

CSI Sports held the Scandinavian rights. SPORTFIVE had the rights to most of Europe.

It was previously announced that AMI will handle the rights for 16 central and eastern European countries.

The rights sell-off is believed to have netted the FA more than GBP 145 million. The last sale brought in GBP 38.5 million.
