The 2009-2012 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup media rights in Africa has being awarded to top pay-tv operator SuperSport.
UEFA stated, "In recent years SuperSport has proved to be a superb broadcast partner and has excelled in delivering both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Cup to audiences across Africa. We look forward with anticipation to continuing our relationship in 2009-12."
The pay-tv broadcasting rights cover all of sub-Saharan Africa, with the exception of Nigeria, Sudan, and the Republic of South Africa.
There is a possibility that the free-broadcasting rights will be granted to SuperSport as well. There have been a number of bidders, and UEFA has not yet made a decision concerning these rights.
