DFB strikes deals with free, pay TV

German international matches can be viewed domestically, with the German Football Association agreeing to contract terms with state-run, free-to-air stations.

The DFB-Pokal tournament, though, will be on pay-TV, as Premiere landed the rights to the event's 63 matches.

ARD and ZDF struck an agreement that will last until 2012. The broadcasters also have rights for the 2014 World Cup.

DFB President, Dr Theo Zwanziger, said: "We feel well covered by ARD and ZDF and are happy to comply with the state laws ensuring international matches are screened on free-to-air television. Since the ARD and ZDF already have the rights for the 2014 World Cup and 2011 Women's World Cup, it makes sense to reach this agreement."
