UEFA awarded the exclusive Italian broadcast rights to RAI, allowing the company to air UEFA EURO 2008.
The public broadcaster is the traditional Italian home of national-team football and a long-standing partner of UEFA. RAI has shown all previous editions of the UEFA European Championship and is also UEFA's broadcast partner for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
"We are very pleased to see the continued strong commitment of RAI to the UEFA European Championship," UEFA CEO Lars-Christer Olsson said. "Together with RAI we will achieve a highly attractive broadcast platform for UEFA EURO 2008 that will benefit all football fans in Italy."
The broadcast rights are being sold on a market-by-market basis for the first time in the tournament's history, via SPORTFIVE which is UEFA's exclusive sales agent.
