LFP to tender League Cup rights

The Football League (LFP) is to put out a tender for the broadcast rights for the League Cup and the Champions Trophy for the years 2006-2009. The document will be sent to all the television channels including the seven new digital terrestrial channels (TNT). Public broadcaster, France Televisions, pays €10m per year for its League Cup rights in a contract ending next year. This is down on the previous contract when France Televisions paid €12m per year. However, the public broadcaster was the sole bidder for the previous rights package, but this time the competition among bidding broadcaster will be more intense.
