Pay broadcaster Canal Plus has asked the French state council to suspend the rights tender of the French Football League (LFP).
The league received the right to offer four-year tenders instead of three, as was the case. The rights, split among 12 packages, will last from 2008-2012.
Canal Plus is the current rights holder, but has vowed not to pay more for rights than they currently do.
"We have learnt that Canal Plus has placed two requests with the Conseil d'Etat and the TGI to suspend the tender launched November 30," read a statement from the league. "We believe Canal Plus is trying to obstruct competition. We will not be intimidated."
