Top Pay TV operator HiTV has been announced as the winning bidder for the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the UEFA Cup in Nigeria exclusive Pay TV rights. HiTV will remain a broadcasting partner with UEFA until the end of the 2008-2009 season.
Match coverage, including live action and game highlights, will be broadcast on Hi Soccer and Hi Sports channels. There will also be live streaming video available on the HiTV website, which is also accessible on mobile phones. News, events, and a weekly recap on the UEFA Champions League will be featured in a magazine programme.
It is possible that HiTV may also receive the free-to-air rights in Nigeria for all UEFA Champions League matches. A second round of bidding has been announced for these rights due to the heavy competition.
