Swedish pay broadcaster Canal Plus has filed a court claim for USD 15.4 million in damages against Kentaro, which has the distribution rights for Swedish top-tier football.
Kentaro and TV4 agreed to let TV4 to broadcast an additional 36 matches a season, in addition to 14 matches already in the fold. That was done before Canal Plus agreed to a deal for the remaining matches.
Canal Plus believes it has lost exclusivity. It asked the court to issue an interim injunction to prevent TV4 from showing the extra matches until a ruling is made.
