SPORTFIVE didn’t exercise Bologna TV rights option

The Hamburg-based sports marketing agency didn’t prolong the contract with the Serie A club, and has dropped its claim against Media Partners and Silva, a joint venture between the Italian sports agency Media Partners and the sports rights consultant Riccardo Silva. SPORTFIVE announced last month that it and its partner Rai Trade, the rights distribution arm of Italy’s public-service broadcaster Rai, had extended their international rights agreements with 19 teams in Serie A and Serie B, also including Bologna. But Media Partners and Silva claimed this week that it had signed six-year deals, beginning next season, for the international distribution of the rights of Bologna, Cagliari, Genoa, Torino, Perugia, Treviso, Bari and Triestina. SPORTFIVE and Rai Trade have extended their agreements with top clubs AC Milan, Juventus, Internazionale and AS Roma, as well as Udinese, Fiorentina, Parma, Reggina, Sampdoria, Palermo, Siena, Livorno and Messina. Silva said that Media Partners and Silva had agreed to sub-license the rights of Fiorentina and Messina to Sportfive and Rai Trade for two years, beginning this season.
