Growing overseas interest in Bundesliga rights

The Deutsche Fussball Bund (DfB) and its sports marketing agency SPORTFIVE are reportedly pleased with the growing interest from overseas in the Bundesliga. The number of games broadcast live in foreign countries has increased within the past 12 months to a total of 108 from the 153 matches available and the DfB is confident that those numbers are going to rise even further because of the booming market in Asia. DfB director Wilfried Straub, who hopes to generate extra revenue by launching new services for mobile phones and the internet, said: "Establishing the Bundesliga as internationally well-known brand remains of sustainable importance to the organization of Germany's 36 professional football teams.”
