Irish coverage of the UEFA Champions League will be handled by broadcasters TV3 and RTÉ.
The deal lasts from 2009-2010 to 2011-2012. It covers the gamut of live television, internet and mobile rights.
The new deal is believed to be worth EUR 2 million a season. That would more than double the right fess from the previous period.
RTÉ will have exclusive live rights to first-choice matches on Wednesday night as part of an 18-match package. That will include exclusive coverage of the Champions League final and the UEFA Super Cup. Wednesday night highlights and a weekly magazine programme are included.
TV3 acquired exclusive live rights to first-choice matches on Tuesday nights. That is part of a 16-match package.
