LA Galaxy to get more TV exposure

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
Major League Soccer defending champions, LA Galaxy, appeared 17 times on national TV last season, and although it did not make the 2006 playoffs, the club will have 26 of its 30 games in the current season broadcast nationally.

David Beckman who signed a five-year deal with the Galaxy last month, is the main reason for the increase in the Galaxy broadcast matches.

Beckham is expected to join the club in July and his fans will be able to catch him in sixteen of the club's final 17 games that will be broadcast nationally.

The league's new television contract includes two new partners. One is Spanish-language Univision, which will broadcast games on its over-the-air network, Telefutura and its cable and satellite network, Galavision. The second partner is Fox cable, which will broadcast games on the Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Español.

The Galaxy will appear on ESPN2 six times, HDNet eight times, Telefutura and Galavision seven times and on the Fox Soccer Channel five times.

MLS Chivas USA, also based in L.A., will make 19 national appearances — six on ESPN2, five on the Fox networks, four on Telefutura and four on HDNet.

FSN West and Prime Ticket will announce its local Galaxy and Chivas schedules later.
