Asian World Cup 2010 TV rights go to ESPN

ESPN-Star Sports, a Pan-Asian television sports broadcaster, has obtained the exclusive rights to the 2010 football World Cup in South Asia.

Over 275 international football matches are included in the agreement, including the Confederations Cup, beach football, women's, youth, and futsal FIFA events,

All of the 64 World Cup matches will be broadcasted live with both Hindi and English commentary. There will also be match review programmes and daily review programmes.

According to the Press Trust of India, Sepp Blatter, FIFA president, stated that the agreement 'ensures that images of our events including the 2010 FIFA World Cup will be seen by the widest possible audience across Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.'
