UEFA has cut media rights deals in Russia and Ireland for the Champions League and UEFA Cup.

The terms with NTV and NTV Plus will last from 2009 through 2012. NTV is Russia's leading free-to-air broadcaster. NTV Plus operates pay services.

In the Republic of Ireland, UEFA announced the first award of Champions League rights.

In a deal also lasting from 2009 through 2012, public service broadcaster RTÉ will broadcast the first-choice match on a Wednesday night, as well as a Wednesday night highlights programme and the weekly magazine programme on RTÉ Two.

Commercial broadcaster TV 3 has secured the rights to the first-choice match on a Tuesday, as well as a Tuesday night highlights programme, delayed matches and the weekly magazine programme.
