Portsmouth sign viagogo to use Ticket Exchange Facility

viagogo, the secondary ticketing company, has announced a new partnership deal with English Portsmouth.

This deal makes viagogo Portsmouth's official secondary ticketing partner and the new service enables ticket holders to legally re-sell their tickets to fellow Pompey fans for fixtures at Fratton Park. This is the first time Portsmouth fans have had this opportunity, as under current laws, all other ways of re-selling football match tickets are illegal. In addition, viagogo will also assist in selling match day hospitality packages for the club.

viagogo is an online secondary ticket exchange that facilitates the exchange between people who want to sell and people who want to buy live event tickets, allowing them to do so in a safe and guaranteed environment. By managing payment and delivery the company guarantees that buyers will receive their tickets and sellers will receive payment.

This deal extends viagogo's relationship with Premiership clubs. The company launched in August 2006 by announcing ticketing partnerships with Chelsea and Manchester United and this year it has launched its secondary ticketing exchange service with Everton and Blackburn Rovers in the Premiership, Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.

Eric Baker, CEO of viagogo said. "We offer fans the only legal opportunity to re-sell tickets, and we do so in a safe, convenient and guaranteed way. Pompey fans finally have the chance to purchase hard-to-get or sold out tickets to matches without illegally buying tickets from un-secure online vendors or match day ticket touts."

Paul Bell, Director of Marketing and Commercial at Portsmouth commented: "Working with viagogo means that we can now offer supporters a great new service that benefits everyone involved. It's a facility that's been proven to work for both clubs and fans alike. We look forward to a great partnership with viagogo and a great season ahead."

viagogo was set up in August 2006 by the co-founder of StubHub.com, the leading online secondary ticketing company in the US that was acquired in March 2007 by eBay for USD 307 million. Based on an already proven business model and adapted for the European market, viagogo is the first and leading business of its kind in Europe, bringing efficiency and transparency to what has traditionally been a murky marketplace. It is therefore the best place to buy and sell live event tickets in a secure and guaranteed way.
