FIFA to use Early Warning to track betting patterns

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
FIFA will now put its early-warning bettering system in place for the preliminary rounds of the World Cup.

Qualifying begins this year, and FIFA will rely on Early Warning System, a company devoted to tracking betting patterns on matches.

FIFA also will contract with bookmakers and betting organisations, under which the latter will be required to report any irregular betting activities.

With more and more scandals surfacing, FIFA set up an early warning system for the 2006 World Cup.

Violating the FIFA code of ethics, which forbids anyone involved in a match to be involved with betting of any type is subject to disciplinary sanctions from the governing body. Individual government authorities may take additional action.
