English Chelsea are going to be aired on one of the most popular Internet clips sites in the world.
The club has reached a deal with YouTube to carry archive footage. It's the latest move to put 'official' content on the site, and Chelsea becomes the first Premier League club to share content from its paid-for club channel.
News and clips – although no live footage – will be carried at YouTube.com/chelseafc. The content is produced by Chelsea and BSkyB subsidiary Chelsea Digital Media.
"We are delighted to work with YouTube. Chelsea is the first football club to move into what is clearly one of the fastest-growing new media platforms," said Chelsea chief executive, Peter Kenyon. "This will allow us to offer our fans exciting Chelsea FC content in a very unique way, as well as an opportunity to reach a whole new audience."
