The World Organization of Intellectual Property Rights (WOPR) ordered a representative of a fruit and vegetable firm Sevilla Frutas y Conservas to transfer the domain name sevillafc.com to the Primera Liga club. The WOPR explained that the domain was registered by a representative of the company on 1998 in “bad faith without any legitimate interest”.
The club explained in its claim that it is the owner of names like Canal Sevilla F.C., Teletienda Sevilla F.C., Sevilla Fútbol Club SAD and Sevilla Fútbol Club y Diseño, and it commands "national and international prestige” while Sevilla Frutas y Conservas was said to be unknown in any market, virtual or otherwise.
