Rooney Leads Megasoccer's Search Charts during Euro 2004
EURO 2004 - 30 July, 2004
David Beckham has lost his title and been overtaken by Wayne Rooney as the most searched-for player on the internet according to Megasoccer, the world’s only specialist football search engine. Rooney in the top spot knocked the England captain, Pavel Nedved, Thierry Henry and Zinedine Zidane down the list. Rooney also keeps Cristiano Ronaldo, of Portugal, in second place. Since the tournament kicked off on June 12th, Rooney has become the most searched for player on Megasoccer. Following his two goals for England in the crucial game against Croatia on June 21st, Rooney surged ahead with users from across the globe searching for information on the 18-year-old. The England forward also drew first blood for England against Portugal, holding off a late surge in searches for Cristiano Ronaldo.
