The BT Group has officially launched BT Vision Sport, which will feature 46 live English Premier League matches and roughly 200 near-live contests on its broadband TV service.

The group will face BSkyB and cable group Virgin Media in that market. BT Vision offers free digital TV, pay-as-you-go content and a personal video recorder at no monthly subscription charge for BT broadband customers.

It's part of a GBP 100 million effort by BT to move in TV. The effort hopes to lure between 2 million and 3 million customers.

BT Vision Sport will cost GBP 4 a month for watch 242 Premier League matches on demand. For GBP 12, live matches will be covered from the Setanta Sports service. The Setanta service also shows live Scottish matches.

Subscribers to the Sky Sports service can see 92 live matches plus the 46 Setanta games and others as near live. They can also pay an additional GBP 9.99 to see the Setanta games live.
