Skinkers plc, a company involved in alert technology solutions, has announced contracts with the two Premiership football clubs. The clubs are using Skinkers technology to create an interactive, online relationship with their fans and to deliver club news and information. The FA Premier League itself is also using Skinkers to inform football fans about UK club and player news. Following the trials Skinkers is now an integral part of Manchester United’s multi-media strategy and is being used to help educate and inform the club’s geographically diverse fan base. Skinkers also provides online research and active filtering technology which helps clubs build a greater understanding of the preferences and individual needs of their fans in order to provide personalised news and information.

In the case of Manchester United data that has been captured will be used to market MU.tv (online video lounge) and send ticket news on forthcoming games. Mark Hargreaves, General Manager, Manchester United Interactive said: “United Alerts are an integral part of our online marketing strategy. Not only does it help increase engagement with our fan base by providing news directly to them also enables us to better understand want they want from the club.”

The other contract with Liverpool follows another successful trial. Liverpool FC has implemented the Skinkers desktop alert solution – ‘Anfield Alerts’. In the first two weeks of its launch over 18,000 fans downloaded the free Liverpool FC ‘Anfield Alerts’ to their desktop which cut through email clutter and deliver content such as club news, ticket information, match fixtures and game highlights. The Skinkers desktop technology enables fans to view information on the website, run video, view PDF’s and much more. Since the launch, fans have been able to sample video content showing ‘Rafaelution Moments’, enter competitions to win tickets and view highlights from the recent Champions League games. Commenting, Jo Crump, Marketing & Mobile Services Manager, Liverpool FC said: “‘Anfield Alerts’ support our key objective of effective fan engagement. We are very happy with the results so far. We have been able to deliver quality content whilst securing greater brand equity.”
