Michael Owen is under the spotlight as transfer speculation reaches fever pitch in the run up to the start of the season. Earlier this month the current Real Madrid striker was linked to Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson was given the green light to put in a bid for him. But doubts as to whether this would fit into Sir Alex’s master plan began to set in with four International strikers already at his disposal some felt Owen’s talent may be stuck on the sidelines. Meanwhile over at Newcastle United manager Graham Souness has confirmed he was interested in putting in a bid for Owen sending the transfer rumor mill into overdrive.
Owen was the most searched-for footballer on search engine Megasoccer.com last month, with the ever-popular Steven Gerrard also attracting huge interest from information-hungry supporters during the close season.
