Yahoo, the online provider for the official FIFA World Cup site, reported the official site received 4.2 billion page views.
FIFAworldcup.com was the product of a September 2001 agreement to jointly produce, market, and commercially operate the official web site of the World Cup tournament.
The website received two billion page view in the first two weeks of the tournament, more page views than the entire 2002 tournament site received.
The website also provided more than 138 million video streams of clips and highlights of the matches. This was the first tournament where this service was available.
Another first for the tournament was the availability of mobile coverage. FIFAworldcup.com's mobile web destination received more than 73 million page views during the tournament.
